Bio
Lauren Nahas was born and raised in the small town of Boscobel located in southwest Wisconsin. Her parents were a big influence on her decision to become an art teacher. She grew up playing in her mother's craft boxes occasionally making stuffed animals with fabric, yarn and stuffing. If her toy was broken, she would bring it to dad in his wood shop because she knew he could fix anything. Lauren learned how to use the tools in her father's wood shop, bringing in materials from her mother's craft bin and started to become the artist she never saw coming.
Though Lauren really thrived in an art classroom setting, she went on to study Biology at UW-La Crosse in hopes to become an Optometrist like her father one day. She spent many years studying material only to receive grades that reflected her interest in the subject. Lauren was headstrong, though, and knew she could try again in the future semesters. She spent eight semesters doing this with little turnaround, when she realized that something had to change.
Lauren spent a lot of time studying Biology, but she was prioritizing a lot more time making art because it made her happy. Biology didn't make Lauren happy, and one of the most important things she learned from her parents growing up was to always do what made you happy.
It was in Lauren's senior year of college when she decided to make a major change from biology to art education. It was a big decision, but one that she knew was worth it the moment she stepped into her very first college art class. It wasn't mechanism worksheets -- it was metal. It wasn't memorizing classes and domains -- it was igniting torches. Instead of receiving the lowest grades on her exams she was now getting the highest in the class. It was in that moment when Lauren knew she was going to do big things.
